I can see how this would come as a surprise after purchasing the course. The background is that all of my courses have always come with access to an online community. Seeing sound, for example, comes with 6 months. It became an important way for students to get answers to questions and give each other support. At some point some students asked if they could remain in the community even after they had completed the course. I agreed and started offering access for a monthly fee.
For the first two years, I handled all of this manually. I would meet with each student at the end of their course and discuss what they would like to do moving forward. This year, though, I started working with two other teachers, which brought in more students than I could handle manually. The subscription through Goesto11 on Might Networks allows me to focus more on helping students and less on keeping up with subscriptions and tracking people down. I realize that it is a hassle to put in your credit card information and set up an account on yet another service, but ultimately I hope it will result in a better experience for everyone.
I want to emphasize here that this is not an attempt at fraud. I'm NOT hoping that you'll forget about the trial period loose money unnecessarily. The platform, Mighty Networks, does not allow the easy automation of adding and removing members from the group, yet, which is one of the reasons why I have chosen this path. Please create a reminder for yourself before the end of the trial period. You should get a reminder in Goesto11, but don't rely on that alone.
Unlike most online course, I force you to jump through a lot of hoops because my goal is for you to take action on the lessons and transform information into understanding. That being said, this is adult education through a self-paced online course. The time and effort that you put into it is completely up to you. If "get the course underway" mean skipping participation in Goesto11, you are free to do so. I'm happy to communicate through email instead.
